17 October 2026 Islands in the Venice Lagoon.

Marina Coslovi - Islands in the Venice Lagoon. most people know Murano and Burano but not all visitors know that there are other islands important to the life of Venice, some of which are wrapped in legend, or have disappeared. Come for a journey through life and space in the lagoon.

 

21st November 2026  Pietro Antonio Locatelli. 

Aidan Phillips and Mafalda Romas will talk about Pietro Antonio Locatelli Baroque Composer and Violinist and play some of his music. Aidan on harpsichord and Mafalda on her baroque flute.

20 February 2027: VENUS before & after the Botticelli years

An Illustrated presentation by Caroline A.M.Clarke MA.

When Botticelli’s Venus in all her feminine majesty emerged from the sea (1486) it was the first time a painting of a naked woman had been seen in Italy since the fall of classical empire.

It is impossible to overstate the paintings significance & it’s place in Italian Renaissance. But what did it really mean for this ancient goddess of love and beauty to re-appear in the collective imagination of the day?

Join us as we explore this iconic work of art, the mythology within which it finds its deep roots & our continued fascination with it.
